Women's Swimming & Diving Squad Defeats Rice
January 22, 1999
The No. 17 UCLA women's swim team (6-1-1) defeated the Rice Owls 127-68 in UCLA's last home meet of the season. The Bruins placed first in all but one event, finishing second in the 400 free relay. Freshmen Katie Younglove and Jen Noddle led the Bruins, recording two first places finishes apiece. Senior Becky Thompson, juniors Beth Goodwin and Keiko Price and freshmen Lyndee Hovsepian, Hilary Peterson and Nicole Beck all recorded first-place finishes as well.
Rice's April Martin led the Owls, finishing second in the 200 free and the 200 back. Rice's 400 free relay team of Maher, Martin, Armstrong and Hermann finished first with a time of 3:33.87
UCLA next travels north to face No. 2 Stanford on Fri., Jan. 29 at 1 pm and No. 7 Cal on Sat., Jan. 30 at 1 pm.
