NCAA Regional Women's Tennis Results

LOS ANGELES - In NCAA Women's Tennis Regional first round action at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the UCLA campus today, South Alabama defeated Colorado 5-0. With the win No. 26 ranked South Alabama improved to 15-6 overall, while No. 32 Colorado slipped to 20-7 with the loss.
The Jaguars dominated the match, winning the first five matches to finish and were up a set in the other, which was suspended when the match was clinched. The closest match of the morning also turned out to be the decisive point as South Alabama's Martina Ondrejkova won the first set tie-breaker, 7-6(5), then claimed the second 7-5 over Colorado's Jessica Garrow on court No. 1. The first match to finish took place on court No. 2, where USA's Iva Puflerova defeated CU's Nadine Kenzelmann 6-1, 6-0. The Jaguars went ahead 2-0 when Caroline Toyre defeated the Buffaloes' Anna Bek, 6-2, 6-3 on court No. 6. South Alabama's Vonda Novakova handled Colorado's Emily Smith, 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 position to give the Buffs a 3-0 advantage. A 6-3, 6-4 victory by Marketa Blazkova over Aggie Bek on court No. 5 set the stage for the clinching match on court No. 1.
In the match not completed, Colorado's Sandra Fischer was ahead 4-0 in the second set, however Lenka Jakubekova won the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6(4) on court No. 4.
South Alabama advances to play the winner of this afternoon's UCLA vs. Western Michigan match in Sunday's Regional Final for the right to advance to the NCAA Championships in Gainseville, Florida next week.
