Men's Golfers Tied for Fifth at Pac-10s

The UCLA men's golf team climbed into a tie for fifth place and freshman Travis Johnson vaulted into second place individually after the third round at the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ.
The Pac-10 Championships is a 72-hole event, using the best five-out-of-six individual scores.
The Bruins score of 346 on Tuesday was 14-under par and moved them into a tie with Arizona at 1,081, one-over par. Arizona State posted a team score of 342 and leads the field at 1,032, 48-under par. California was a distant second at 1,064, followed by Oregon State at 1,068 and Oregon at 1,071.
Johnson, who was sixth entering the third round, fired his best collegiate round, a seven-under par 65. His round featured six birdies, an eagle and one bogey. His 54-hole total of 204 is 12-under par and trails ASU's Paul Casey by six shots. He leads Oregon State's Tim Mikkelson and ASU's Jonas Runnquist by two shots.
UCLA seniors Brandon DiTullio and Jason Semelsberger each posted four-under par 68s in the third round. DiTullio is tied for 13th at 212, four-under par, and Semelsberger is tied for 27th at 217, one-over par.
The Bruins Parker McLachlin posted a third round score of 71 and is tied for 35th at 220, four-over par. Junior Ross Fulgentis and freshman J.T. Kohut are tied for 57th at 235.
Final round action continues Wednesday.
