Rojer Named ITA West Region Rookie of the Year

May 17, 2000
Jean-Julien Rojer of the UCLA men's tennis team added to his list of postseason honors Wednesday, earning Region VIII Rookie of the Year accolades, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced.
The honor comes after Rojer was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year earlier this month. Rojer was also a second-team Pac-10 selection.
The 5-11 freshman from Curacao, Netherlands-Antilles is currently the No. 64-ranked singles player in the nation, helping the Bruins rise to No. 2 in the national team rankings. He currently owns a 26-3 overall singles record and a 23-2 dual match mark, dropping only one dual match during the regular-season to Stanford's Scotty Scott at the National Team Indoors in Kentucky on Feb. 27. Rojer was the only Bruin to advance to the Pac-10 Championship semifinals and owns the longest win streak on the team--13 matches from Mar. 11- Apr. 28.
