Men's Golf Ninth After First Round At NCAA West Regionals

The UCLA men's golf team was in ninth place and two Bruins were among the top 10 individual leaders after the first round of the NCAA Men's Golf West Regionals at Riverbend Golf Course, hosted by Fresno State.
The Bruins posted a team score of 287, one under par, and trail first place BYU by 11 shots. Arizona was second at 280, followed by Fresno State and Arizona State at 281. The Bruins were three shots ahead of 10th place Oregon and trail eighth place USC by two shots.
The top 10 teams qualify after 54 holes for the NCAA Championships in two weeks, hosted by Auburn University.
Sophomore Parker McLachlin fired a five-under par 67 and was tied with BYU's Manuel Merizalde for first place. Senior Brandon DiTullio posted a three-under par 69 and was tied for ninth place with several players. Freshman Travis Johnson was tied for 66th after an opening round 74. Senior Jason Semelsberger and junior Steve Wagner each posted 77s and were tied for 101st place.
Action continues Friday and Saturday.
