The Sporting News Honors Utley and Scott

UCLA junior Chase Utley and Bill Scott, who have led the Bruin baseball team into the NCAA Super Regional against LSU, have been named 2000 All-Americans by The Sporting News.
Utley, a second baseman, was named to the first team. He enters Friday's game at LSU batting .389 with 21 home runs, 67 runs batted in and a slugging percentage of .695.
Scott, a left fielder, was named to the second team. He is currently hitting .430 with 21 home runs, 75 runs batted in and a slugging percentage of .779. Scott, who has set a school record with 111 hits, has already been named first-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball and USA Today/Baseball Weekly.
