Baseball America Names All-America Team

June 22, 2000

UCLA second baseman Chase Utley and outfielder Bill Scott have been selected first-team All-America by Baseball America. UCLA is one of just three teams to place two players on the first team (Arizona and Auburn were the others).

Overall, five Pac-10 players were selected to the first team, including Utley and outfielder Scott, Arizona State outfielder Mitch Jones, Stanford righthander Justin Wayne, and Arizona righthander/DH Ben Diggins, who snagged the team's two-way player spot.

First baseman Garrett Atkins was a third-team selection.
