Reggie Miller (1984-1987) scored 35 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter and overtime, in the Indiana Pacers' 120-118 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game Four of the NBA Finals.

Beach Volleyball

Holly McPeak (1990) and Misty May advanced to the Main Draw at the Nokia Open 2000 after defeating Zhang Jingkun/Tian Jia of China, 15-6 in 19 minutes.

Baseball

Todd Zeile (1984-86) went 3-for-5, knocking in two runs as New York defeated Chicago 10-8. He is now batting .308 on the season.

Rich Amaral (1982-83) was 2-for-4 with two RBI in Baltimore's 12-10 win over Texas on Wednesday.

Ryan McGuire (1991-93) of Norfolk (International), the Triple-A affiliate of the Mets, hit a game-winning, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Tides came from behind to defeat Columbus, 5-4.

Soccer

Cobi Jones (1988-1991) scored the game-winning goal with 12 seconds left to help the Los Angeles Galaxy defeat the Seattle Sounders, 2-1, to advance to the third round of play in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Greg Vanney (1993-1995) scored the Galaxy's first goal on a penalty kick in the first half. Goalkeeper Matt Reis (1994-1997) had two saves in the win.

Ante Razov (1992-1995) scored two goals in the Chicago Fire's 4-0 win over the D3 Texas Rattlers in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Josh Keller (1994-1997) was selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week after notching his first two career MLS goals in a win over the MetroStars.

Tennis

Justin Gimelstob (1995-1996) knocked off 13th-seeded Fabrice Santoro 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the second round of the Stella Artois Championships in London on Wednesday. Also playing in the Wimbledon tuneup, Eric Taino (1994-97)and his parter Jonathan Stark upset top-seeded Alex O'Brien/Jared Palmer 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles draw.

Tuesday, June 13

Baseball

Eric Karros (1986-88) surpassed Ron Cey as the Los Angeles Dodger's career home run leader Tuesday, belting an eighth-inning solo shot in L.A.'s 6-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Karros now has 229 career home runs. He was also 3-for-4 at the plate Tuesday.

Peter Zamora (1995-97), in his first start since pitching a perfect game, allowed just one earned run in six innings, surrending six hits and two walks while striking out four. Zamora received a no-decision as his team Reading, the AA affiliate for the Phillies, was defeated by Akron 6-5 on Tuesday evening.

Beach Volleyball

Holly McPeak (1990) and teammate Misty May advanced to Wednesday's final qualifying rounds at the FIVB Toronto Nokia Open 2000 in Toronto, Canada. McPeak/May scored a 15-1 win in 10 minutes over 17th-seeded Nancy Gougeon and Marie-Andree Lessard of Canada.

Beach Volleyball

Kevin Wong (1992-1995) and teammate Rob Heidger are currently ranked fifth in the FIVB world rankings, first amongst U.S. teams. Karch Kiraly (1979-1982) and teammate Adam Johnson are third amongst U.S. teams and 12th in the world. Only two U.S. teams will qualify for the Olympic Games.

Annett (Buckner) Davis (1991-1994) and Jenny (Johnson) Jordan (1992-1995) are currently ranked second in the FIVB women's world rankings and first amongst U.S. teams and are followed closely by Liz Masakayan (1982-1985) and Elaine Youngs (1988-1992), who rank third in the world and second amongst U.S. teams.

Softball

Lisa Fernandez (1990-93) pitched the fourth perfect game of the Central Park to Sydney tour for USA Softball, striking out 14 of the 15 batters she faced. USA Softball won 15-0 in a game that was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. It was the third perfect game in as many days for the National Team. During the tour, Fernandez has 38 K's in 19 innings and has yet to issue a walk.

Baseball

Eric Valent (1996-98), UCLA's all-time career home run leader, now playing for Reading, the AA affiliate of the Phillies, was 2-4 and hit his seventh homer of the season in Reading's 11-6 victory over Harrisburg on Monday night.

Tennis

Justin Gimelstob (1995-96)defeated fellow American Vince Spadea 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 Monday in the first round of the $800,000 Stella Artois Championships, a grasscourt event that serves as a tuneup for Wimbledon.

Sunday, June 11

Baseball

Jeff Conine (1985-1987) went 2-4 with a two-run home run to lead Baltimore to a 7-2 victory over Philadelphia.

Eric Byrnes (1995-98), UCLA's all-time career hits leader who is playing AA ball for the A's in the Texas League, blasted his fifth home run of the season, drove in three runs and walked three times in Midland's 15-0 victory over Wichita.

Basketball

Reggie Miller (1984-1987) scored a game-high tying 33 points to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 100-91 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game Three of the NBA Finals. Indiana's victory cut the Lakers' series lead to 2-1.

Golf

LaRee Sugg (1988-1991) finished tied for eighth at the Rochester International with a one-over 289 final score. Sugg shot a one-under 71 in the final round.

Soccer

Frankie Hejduk (1992-1994) and Ante Razov (1992-1995) each scored a goal to lead the U.S. National Team to a 3-0 victory over Mexico, giving the U.S. its first victory over Mexico since June 18, 1995 as well as the U.S. Cup victory. Cobi Jones (1988-1991) became the all-time U.S. "cap" leader with 128 international appearances.

Softball

Jen Brundage (1992-1995) had two hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs to help the USA National Team defeat the Drifton All-Stars 12-0. Brundage had two hits in the game, as did Dot Richardson (1981-1983), Christie Ambrosi (1996-1999) and Sheila (Cornell) Douty (1981-1984), who also hit a home run.

Volleyball

Jeff Nygaard (1992-1995) had four kills, two blocks and two digs to help lead the undefeated U.S. to a 25-21, 25-15, 25-16 World League victory over Spain. Also contributing in the win were Dan Landry (1990-1993) and libero Erik Sullivan (1992-1995), who had five digs.

Annett (Buckner) Davis (1991-1994) and Jenny (Johnson) Jordan (1992-1995) placed second at an FIVB World Tour event in Italy, falling to Brazil's Monica Rodriguez-Ana Paula Connolly 15-6 in the finals.

Brandon Taliaferro (1997-2000) teamed with Reid Priddy at the Hermosa Beach Open to place 25th, earning $500 in his first professional beach volleyball tournament. Karch Kiraly (1979-1982) placed fifth, and Stein Metzger (1993-1996) placed seventh.

Saturday, June 10

Softball

Stacey Nuveman (1997-pres.) hit a two-run home run in Game Two of the USA National Team's doubleheader against the York County Junior All-Stars to lead the U.S. to a 10-0 five-inning victory. The home run was Nuveman's team-high third of the tour. Lisa Fernandez (1990-1993) went 3-3 in the game, raising her team-high batting average to .632 (12 for 19).

Soccer

In a battle of former UCLA goalkeepers, the Miami Fusion's Nick Rimando (1997-1999) bested the Chicago Fire's Chris Snitko (1992-1995) in a 4-2 Fusion victory. Both goalkeepers made four saves.

Baseball

Eric Karros (1986-1988) hit his 17th home run of the season to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-2 win over the Oakland A's. Karros' home run was the 228th of his career, tying Ron Cey for the Los Angeles franchise record.

Basketball

Natalie Williams (1991-1994) scored a team-high 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds in Utah's 73-71 loss to defending WNBA champion Houston.

Golf

Duffy Waldorf (1982-1985) moved into first place by one stroke at the Buick Classic, shooting a three-under 68 for a three-day total of 206.

Friday, June 9

Soccer

Josh Keller (1994-1997) scored his first two Major League Soccer goals to lead the Tampa Bay Mutiny to a 3-0 victory over the New York/New Jersey MetroStars.

Baseball

Troy Glaus (1995-1997) hit his 18th home run of the season in the Anaheim Angels' 4-1 loss to Arizona. Glaus' home run, off Randy Johnson, traveled 457 feet, the third-longest home run in Bank One Ballpark history.

Jeff Conine (1985-1987) hit his sixth home run of the season in the Baltimore Orioles' 9-5 loss to Philadelphia. Conine batted 2-4 in the game with two runs scored.

Softball

Jen Brundage (1992-1995) hit a solo home run in the second inning to account for the only run in the U.S. National Team's 1-0 victory over the Akron Racers. Lisa Fernandez (1990-1993) allowed just two hits while striking out a dozen. Nicole Odom (1994-1998) started at shortstop for Akron.

Golf

Duffy Waldorf (1982-1985) shot a one-over 72 in the second day of the Buick Classic, five strokes behind the leader with a four-under, 36-hole total of 138.

Kristal Parker (1983-1987) shot a even-par 72 in the second day of the Rochester International, four strokes behind the leaders in sixth place with a 36-hole total of 143. LaRee Sugg (1988-1991) is five strokes out with an even par 144.

Thursday, June 8

Basketball

Natalie Williams (1991-1994) scored 15 points and pulled down a career-high tying 16 rebounds to lead the Utah Starzz to an 81-72 victory over Portland. Williams, who leads the WNBA in rebounds, also contributed two blocked shots, two steals and three assists.

Softball

Lisa Fernandez (1986-1988) drove in six RBI and hit a three-run home run in the first inning to help the USA National Team defeat Linders Grill 14-0 in game one of a doubleheader. Fernandez went 3-3 with three runs scored. Sheila (Cornell) Douty (1981-1984) followed Fernandez' first-inning homer with one of her own. Douty went 2-3 with three RBI. Dot Richardson (1981-1983) went 1-1 with a four runs scored and one RBI.

Stacey Nuveman (1997-present) had three hits in three at-bats, including a three-run home run, to help the USA National Team defeat Linders Grill 5-0 in game two of the doubleheader. Christie Ambrosi (1996-1999), Lisa Fernandez and Dot Richardson had a hit apiece in the victory.

Baseball

Eric Karros (1986-1988) went 2-4 with two RBI in the Dodgers' 5-2 victory over Houston. Karros has already accumulated 54 RBI this season.

Jeff Conine (1985-1987) went 1-3 with a run scored in Baltimore's 8-7 loss to the New York Mets, raising his batting average to .303.

Golf

Duffy Waldorf (1982-1985) shot a five-under 66 to tie for second place after one round at the Buick Classic in Rye, NY. He trails the leader Dennis Paulson by one shot.

Kristal Parker (1984-1987) and LaRee Sugg (1988-1991) shot a one-under 71 to tie for third place at the Rochester International in Pittsford, NY. Parker and Sugg trail the leaders by one shot.

Tennis

Kimberly Po (1990-1991) and Donald Johnson lost in the quarterfinals of the French Open mixed doubles competition to the No. 4 seed Ai Sugiyama/John-Laffnie de Jager, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.

Wednesday, June 7

Baseball

Pete Zamora (1995-1997) threw a perfect game in game two of the Reading Phillies' (AA) doubleheader with the Harrisburg Senators, a 6-0 victory for the Phillies. Zamora retired all 21 batters he faced on his way to the first perfect game in Reading history and just the fifth in Eastern League history. A reliever making his first start since 1998, Zamora recorded four strikeouts.

Troy Glaus (1995-1997) went 2-4 with a three-run home run, his 17th of the season, and two runs scored in the Anaheim Angels' 10-9 victory over San Francisco.

Jim Parque (1995-1997) of the Chicago White Sox upped his season record to 6-2 with a 6-4 victory over Cincinnati. Parque struck out seven batters in five innings while allowing three runs.

Todd Zeile (1984-1986) went 2-5 with three RBIs to help the New York Mets defeat Baltimore 11-3. Jeff Conine (1985-1987) had a pinch-hit double for the Orioles to raise his batting average to .302.

Tuesday, June 6

Tennis

Kimberly Po and Don Johnson advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2000 French Open in mixed doubles after defeating Elena Tatarkova-Jack Waite, 6-2, 6-3.

Soccer

Ante Razov (1992-1995) scored his first international goal to give the USA National Team a 1-1 tie with Ireland at the Nike U.S. Cup 2000. Razov started the game alongside former Bruins Brad Friedel (1990-1992), Frankie Hejduk (1992-1994) and Greg Vanney (1993-1995).

Cobi Jones (1988-1991) tied Marcelo Balboa's record for most international appearances by a U.S. player with his 127th cap in the U.S. Cup game against Ireland.

Basketball

Natalie Williams (1991-1994) recorded a double-double with a game-high 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Utah Starzz to a 76-61 victory over the previously unbeaten Phoenix Mercury.

Kimberly Po (1990-1991) and Anne-Gaelle Sidot lost to fifth-seeded Julie Halard-Decugis and Ai Sugiyama, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, in the third round of women's doubles at the 2000 French Open.

Patrick Galbraith (1986-1989) and Cara Black lost to Catalina Cristea-Bob Bryan, 6-4, 6-3 in the third round of mixed doubles at the 2000 French Open.

Brandt Jobe (1984-1987) shot a 72 and a professional career-best 62 (134 total) on the par-71 course at the U.S. Open Section 36-hole qualifying tournament in Rockville, MD to earn a spot in next week's U.S. Open.

Troy Glaus (1995-1997) had two RBI in an 8-7 Anaheim Angels' victory over the Dodgers.

Eric Karros (1986-1988) hit a home run and two doubles, knocking in three RBI in a loss to Anaheim on Sunday. He needs just one more home run to tie Ron Cey for the L.A. Dodgers' all-time home run record. He currently has 227.

Tennis

Kimberly Po(1990-1991) teamed with Don Johnson to defeat Australia's Rachel McQuillan and Andrew Florent 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in the second round of mixed doubles at the 2000 French Open.

Football

Ryan Neufeld (1995-1998) caught a touchdown pass in first-place Rhein Fire's 53-14 victory over Frankfurt in NFL Europe play. Playing for Frankfurt are Anthony Cobbs (1993-1996) and Sale Isaia (1991-1994).

Softball

Dr. Dot Richardson (1981-1983) scored the game's only run in the first inning as Team USA defeated a team of Southeastern Collegiate All-Stars, 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader. Christie Ambrosi had a pair of hits in the nightcap, another 1-0 win for Team USA.

Beach Volleyball

Kevin Wong (1992-1995) teamed with Rob Heidger to place second at the Mexico Open, dropping a 15-12 decision to the USA's Todd Rogers-Dax Holdren in the final.

Golf

Kristal Parker (1984-1987) finished in fourth place, just four strokes out, with a 10-under 278 at the Kathy Ireland Greens.com LPGA Classic.

Saturday, June 3

Soccer

Cobi Jones (1988-1991) scored two goals and had two assists in the USA National Team's 4-0 victory over South Africa Saturday in the U.S. Cup opener. Eddie Lewis (1992-1995) also started for the U.S., and Ante Razov (1992-95) saw 20 minutes of action.

Jimmy Conrad (1996-1997) assisted on the game-tying goal in the 88th minute as the San Jose Earthquakes scored four unanswered second-half goals to defeat Colorado 4-2.

Pete Vagenas (1996-1999) made his first career MLS start for the Los Angeles Galaxy against New England, starting alongside former Bruin alums Kevin Hartman (1995-1996), Paul Caligiuri (1982-1986), Zak Ibsen (1990-1992) and Sasha Victorine (1996-1999). Seth George (1995-1998) also saw action in the game, playing 27 minutes.

Chris Henderson (1989-1990) had a hand in both of Kansas City's goals in a 3-2 loss to Chicago. Henderson recorded assisted on the game's first goal and tied the game at 2-2 with his fifth goal of the season.

Softball

In Game One of a doubleheader against an all-star collegiate team from Georgia, Jennifer Brundage (1992-1995) hit a two-run home run to score Sheila (Cornell) Douty to give the USA National Team a 2-0 victory. In Game Two, Stacey Nuveman went 3-4 with a two-run home run and the game-ending hit in the sixth inning during the USA National Team's 10-0 win. Christie Ambrosi (1996-1999) added twodoubles, and Lisa Fernandez also stroked a double in the victory.

Basketball

Utah Starzz forward Natalie Williams (1991-1994) had 18 points and eight rebounds in an 87-76 loss to the New York Liberty.

Friday, June 2

Basketball

Reggie Miller (1984-1987) had a game-high 34 points in a 93-80 victory over the New York Knicks in game six of the Easter Conference Finals to lead the Indiana Pacers to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. He was 5-7 from the three-point line and scored 17 points in the pivotal fourth quarter.

Softball

Stacey Nuveman (1997-present) singled home Sheila (Cornell) Douty (1981-1984) in the second inning for the only run of the game as the USA National Team defeated the Florida Wahoos 1-0. Lisa Fernandez (1990-1993) took home the victory with a three-hit, 12-strikeout shuout.
