This was a great win for us. We came in here focused, and our kids really hung in there. It was a tough game, and Fresno State really came to play. We came in focused and were able to put it all together. This is the biggest win in program history.
We had the opportunity to come out here to UCLA for Regionals, and we have the athletes, talent, and all the components in place to win ball games. I'm sure Fresno State knew it was going to be a battle. Margie (Wright, Fresno State's coach) is a great competitor. We've played tough teams all year and that's why we're here today.
On Anna Jones' game-winning hit
Anna has been up and down for us all year, but I have
been telling her that she'll get us a key hit when we
need it the most, and that's what happened today. That
was the biggest hit of the year for us.
WISCONSIN PITCHER ANDREA KIRCHBERG
When I pitch, I go out as hard as I can. Hopefully, I'll get a strikeout, otherwise, I know our defense is behind me.
This is the first trip ever to Regionals for me and for my team. To win the first game is just amazing for me. I wasn.t nervous going in, just more excited than anything else. It's great to have a chance to play against this level of team.

We had the game right where we wanted it and didn't take advantage.
I give a lot of credit to their kid on the mound, because we fished for a lot of bad pitches, she was just doing her job.
It had a lot do with having new people that had not been in this situation before, and you do not how they are going to react. Now we know going into the next game that those are the kids that we have to watch.

I think that the umpires did a great job, that was a
tough call to make.

She gave us a lot of strikes, and all we had to do was
lay off the high ones, but we didn.t take advantage.

I saw it drop foul, but the umps said that when it
crossed third it was fair. From where I was I couldn.t
tell, I had a bad angle.

I didn't come through when I needed to. I lost a few spots and let a couple of runners get on base.
On the added pressure of this game
There is always high pressure in a big tournament like
this. I don't think that the pressure made a
difference because it's always there. There wasn't
more today than usual.
