UCLA Women's T & Field Signings

UCLA women's head track & field coach Jeanette Bolden has announced two National Letter of Intent signings for athletes who will be freshmen for the Bruin women next season in track and field.

The athletes are:

Sarah West, Davis, CA HS - During the 2002 prep indoor season, her 10:46.50i in the 3200m was No. 5 in the State.

Chelsea Johnson, Atascadero, CA HS - At the Mt. SAC Relays, Johnson won the prep women's pole vault with a mark of 13-4, a meet record and the second-highest outdoor mark by a high school woman. Also at Mt. SAC, she placed sixth in the invitational prep race of the 100m high hurdles (15.05). A hurdler before taking up the pole vault last December, Johnson won the 300m low hurdles last season at the Southern Section Div. III Championships. Johnson is also an All-Area soccer and volleyball performer. Her father, Jan, was the 1971 U. S. Outdoor pole vault champion and he earned a Bronze Medal in the event at the 1972 Olympics.
