UCLA Women's Track & Field And Stanford Defeat Arizona/Northern Arizona In CA/AZ Challenge

Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women?s track and field team joined with Stanford to defeat Arizona and Northern Arizona in the CA/AZ T & F Challenge held Saturday in Tucson at the University of Arizona's Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
The Bruin women, ranked No. 3 this week in the U. S., joined with Stanford, tied for No. 12, to defeat Arizona, tied for No. 14 and Northern Arizona. Team California (UCLA/Stanford) won with 130.5 points to Team Arizona's (Arizona/Northern Arizona) 71.5.
Bruin winners included-
200m-freshman Monique Henderson (24.45), who was also second in the
100m (11.62w).
400m-senior Bumni Ogunleye (56.24), who was also second in the long jump (20-2.25w).
4 X 400m Relay- With runners from UCLA and Stanford, Team California B won the event with a time of 3:40.49.
HJ-senior Darnesha Griffith (5-7). Last month, Griffith won the high jump at the NCAA Indoor.
PV-senior Tracy O'Hara in a dual with Arizona sophomore Amy Linnen (last month at the 2002 NCAA Indoor, Linnen won the event with O'Hara placing second), O'Hara won with a season-best tying and U. S. collegiate best tying mark of 14-1.25, with Linnen placing second (13-7.25).
TJ-freshman Candice Baucham (40-9w), who also placed third in the long jump (19-1.50w).
SP-freshman Jessica Cosby (53-1.75), who also placed third in the hammer throw (187-9, personal-best, NCAA provisional qualifier).
DT-freshman Briona Reynolds (174-2, personal-best, NCAA provisional qualifier), who was also third in the shot put (49-4.25).
HT-sophomore Cari Soong (209-10, season-best, NCAA automatic qualifier, second on the current U. S. collegiate list).
Looking Ahead
UCLA will return to Drake Stadium this Saturday (April 13) to host BYU and CS Northridge.
