Ross, Sickler Second-Team Dist. VIII Academic All-American

Junior Chaniqua Ross and senior Heather Sickler on May 23 were named second-team 2002 Verizon Women's T & F/CC Academic All-American for Dist. VIII as selected by CoSIDA.
Ross, from Elk Grove, who is the two-time defending Pac-10 discus champion and a three-time All-American, including a third-place in the discus at last spring's NCAA Outdoor, has a 3.33 cumulative gpa (sociology major).
Sickler, from Camarillo, last spring at the NCAA Outdoor earned All-American honors (top eight Americans) in the pole vault and has the No. 3 mark on the all-time Bruin chart (13-3 1/2). She has a 3.51 gpa (psychology major).
