Two recent polls list the overall success of intercollegiate athletic programs on the playing field. The U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup is awarded annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The standings through the fall sports have UCLA in 12th place. However, a national championship in women's water polo gives the Bruins 100 points, plus we've yet to see what our tennis, golf, track and baseball teams will do. Here are the latest rankings, to be finalized in June:
| 1. | Stanford | 997.5 pts. |
| 2. | Cal | 761.5 pts |
| 3. | Wisconsin | 753.5 pts. |
| 4. | Michigan | 731.25 pts. |
| 5. | Penn State | 704.33 pts. |
| 6. | Florida | 688 pts. |
| 7. | Minnesota | 649.5 pts. |
| 8. | Ohio State | 648 pts. |
| 9. | North Carolina | 644.83 pts. |
| 10. | Texas | 623 pts. |
| 11. | Tennessee | 605.75 pts. |
| 12. | UCLA | 604 pts. |
| 13. | Arizona State | 548.5 pts. |
| 14. | Notre Dame | 546 pts. |
| 15. | USC | 530.5 pts. |
SI.com also does a poll. The SI.com rankings are calculated by taking the Top 25 in 19 sports: men's and women's tennis, lacrosse, cross country, soccer, basketball, water polo, volleyball, and hockey, as well as women's softball, men's baseball and football.. A No. 1 ranking receives 25 points, a No. 25 ranking receives one point. SI gives a more weight to football and basketball; a No. 1 gets 50 points, No. 25 gets 25 points.
The US Sports Academy Director's Cup arrives at its rankings differently, most notably by taking more sports into account (like fencing, gymnastics, track & field and skiing), plus they rank all D1 schools, not just the top 25.
Here are the SI.com All Sports Rankings (to be finalized at the conclusion of the spring sports championships):
1) UNC (223 points)
2) Ohio State (210)
3) UCLA (206)
4) USC (194)
5) Stanford (193
