Bruin Soccer Players Called Up For National Team Games

UCLA sophomores Tony Beltran and Sal Zizzo will join the U.S. Under-20 National Team in its week-long training camp in Canada as part of the team's preparation for the upcoming FIFA Under-20 World Cup. The U.S. will play the Canadian Under-20 National Team twice, facing the World Cup hosts on June 3 in Ottawa, ON and again on June 6 in Kingston, ON. Beltran and Zizzo are two of seven collegiate players on the 16-man squad.

Five former UCLA players have been named to the 19-man roster for the U.S. Men's National Team game against China on June 2 in San Jose, CA. Fulham FC defender Carlos Bocanegra (1997-99) is the third-most experienced player on the roster, entering the game with 44 caps and six goals. Chivas USA forward Ante Razov (1992-95) has 24 caps and six goals and is returning to the National Team for the first time since 2004. Chivas USA's Jonathan Bornstein (2004-05) and Hamburger SV's Benny Feilhaber (2003-04) made their National Team debuts earlier this year, and Kamani Hill (2004-05), who has been playing in Germany for VfL Wolfsburg, will be looking for his first Full National Team appearance. The U.S.-China game will be televised live on June 2 at 5 pm PT on ESPN2 and Galavision.

Bocanegra, Bornstein, Feilhaber and Frankie Hejduk (1992-94) have been named to the U.S. roster for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which will take place June 6-24 in six cities across the United States. The U.S. will begin play on June 7 at 6 pm vs. Guatemala at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. The team will then face Trinidad & Tobago on June 9 at 2 pm, also at The Home Depot Center. The group stage will end for the U.S. in Foxborough, MA on June 12 vs. El Salvador at 4 p.m. PT. All three U.S. group matches will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and Telefutura.
