UCLA vs. Nevada

Nevada Head Coach Michelle Gardner

(opening statement) "We've had a phenomenal year and felt that we had our opportunities and just couldn't quite seal the deal. I'm really proud of the kids and the way they played and we know we'll be back."

(about the middle of the lineup) "We didn't really get a lot of production there, which we had all year, so it is difficult when that part of your lineup shuts down. We might have been a little out of sorts, we were overswinging at pitches. We took advantage of some mistakes and were able to capitalize on that. The home run (in the sixth inning) was unfortunate because we played a great game."

Nevada Outfielder Brittany Puzey

(on the game) "I think in the beginning we might have been a little too outside of ourselves. We were swinging at a lot of pitches we usually don't swing at. We are usually pretty patient and I think we were out there maybe being too aggressive and eager too early. I think Jelly (Selden) does a good job of not throwing strikes and making people fish for pitches instead of going after people early. I think we did a better job late in the game of adjusting and waiting until we got our pitch, but I guess we were a little too late."

Nevada Infielder Kym Silagyi

(on coming back twice) "It felt pretty good. It was nice to come back and I've seen and played with Jelly during travel ball, so I kind of know what she's gonna throw. It was really nice to start a rally for my team."

UCLA Head Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez

(opening statement) "I'm so proud of this team. It has been a constant throughout this season thus far in that so many people can step up in our lineup and be the one. Yesterday it was Katie Schroeder, Megan Langenfeld and Monica Harrison and today it was Anjelica Selden and Samantha Camuso. And that is a big part of our strength and why we have been so successful. We have so many people that can step up. I could not be more proud of how the team pulled together and pulled out a big win against a team that wouldn't back down."

UCLA Pitcher Anjelica Selden

(on the difference between today and yesterday) "I had better focus. It was as simple as that. I was playing my game and I was just focused on me and Jen (Schroeder). And no matter what they did today I was getting them out no matter what."

(on advancing to Super Regionals) "It feels great. It is just very special this year because that has been our goal, to return our program back to dominance. We've continued to play well together and I'm just really happy for our underclassmen to be able to experience that feeling and overcoming adversity during the whole weekend."

UCLA Outfielder Samantha Camuso

(on her game-winning home run) "It was an outside pitch and I wanted to drive it to the opposite field. I knew I wanted to work left-center because she (Richelle Villescas) was throwing a lot of off-speed pitches. I've seen a lot of her pitches between yesterday and today, so I knew what she was going to throw. It was just a great feeling. I just happened to be the one today and I'm just glad I could help the team."
