Brooklyn, Meister Advance in Ojai

Ojai, Calif. - UCLA men's tennis players Matt Brooklyn and Nick Meister each posted a pair of wins on Thursday to earn a spot in the main draw quarterfinals at the Pac-10 Championships at Ojai's Libbey Park.
Brooklyn scored the day's biggest upset, knocking off fourth-seeded Alex Clayton of Stanford, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Next up is a meeting with eighth-seeded Dennis Nguyen of USC on Friday at Noon. Meister, the tournament's No. 7 seed, downed Cal's Sky Lovill, 6-2, 6-2, and followed that up with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Stanford's Richard Wire. Meister will face another Stanford player, third-seeded Ryan Thacher, at Noon on Friday.
Alex Brigham is the only other Bruin player still alive in singles, as he reached the quarterfinals of the Invitational draw on Thursday with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Oregon's Duncan MacDonald-Korth.
Doubles play begins on Friday.
