Five Bruins Earn 11 All-America Honors

Gainesville, Fla. - Five gymnasts from the 2010 NCAA Championship squad from UCLA earned a total of 11 All-America honors. Vanessa Zamarripa, Anna Li, Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, Brittani McCullough and Aisha Gerber were honored as All-Americans Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Tournament banquet. UCLA now has an all-time total of 50 All-Americans and 248 All-America honors.
Zamarripa led the Bruins with four honors, including first-team acclaim in the all-around, vault and floor. She was also a second-team honoree on uneven bars. After just two seasons Zamarripa is already a nine-time All-American.
Li upped her career total to eight All-America honors after earning first-team honors on vault and uneven bars and second-team in the all-around.
Hopfner-Hibbs earned first-team honors on vault and second-team honors in the all-around. She now has six career All-America honors.
McCullough received first-team All-America honors on floor exercise for the second consecutive year, and Gerber earned her first career All-America nod with second-team honors on balance beam.
All-America honors are determined in Thursday's preliminary competition. The gymnasts in the Top 4 placements on each event and the all-around in each session receive first-team honors. Gymnasts in places 5-8, including ties, earn second-team honors.
