UCLA Baseball Selected to Host 2011 NCAA Regional

May 29, 2011

LOS ANGELES - UCLA has been selected as one of 16 sites to host an NCAA Baseball Regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium next weekend. The Bruins have secured at least a tie for first place in the Pac-10 Conference, the first time UCLA has earned a share of the title since 2000.

At the minimum, UCLA has earned an at-large selection to the 2011 NCAA Tournament. If UCLA wins today's game against Arizona State or if Oregon State drops this afternoon's contest at Oregon, the Bruins would secure an outright Pac-10 title.

The Bruins have gone 33-21 with an 18-8 Pac-10 record and will host an NCAA Regional for the second consecutive season. Last June, UCLA won consecutive games against Kent State, LSU and UC Irvine to advance to an NCAA Super Regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium the following weekend.

The four-team, double-elimination regional will be played at Jackie Robinson Stadium from Friday, June 3 through Monday, June 6 (if necessary). The No. 1 seed will play the No. 4 seed, and the No. 2 seed will play the No. 3 seed starting Friday.

The complete 64-team NCAA Tournament bracket will be revealed in a 30-minute "Selection Show" on ESPN on Monday at 9:30 a.m. (PT). Game times will be announced Monday.

Tickets to NCAA Regional games at Jackie Robinson Stadium will go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. Fans will only be able to purchase tickets through UCLA's Central Ticket Office (310-825-2101).

Beginning Tuesday, fans may only purchase All-Session Reserved ($80 adult, $65 student) or All-Session General Admission packages ($55 adult, $40 student). The student prices apply to all grade school, high school and college students.

UCLA will be making its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance (fifth in last six seasons).
