LOS ANGELES - UCLA has earned a No. 1 seed in the 2011 NCAA Baseball Tournament and will host an NCAA Regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium for the second consecutive season, beginning on Friday, June 3.
UCLA will face No. 4-seed San Francisco (31-23) on Friday. No. 2-seed Fresno State (40-14) will face No. 3-seed UC Irvine (39-16) in the other Regional contest on day one. Each of 16 NCAA Regionals features a four-team, double-elimination format.
Game times will be at 2 and 6 p.m. each day, with Monday's if necessary ballgame slated for a 6 p.m. start.
Fresno State will face UC Irvine on Friday at 2 p.m. with the UCLA-USF game scheduled for 6 p.m. On Saturday, the teams that lost Friday's openers will play at 2 p.m. with Friday's winning teams playing at 6 p.m.
UCLA opened the season sweeping a three-game series against San Francisco at Jackie Robinson Stadium. UCLA split a pair of midweek games against UC Irvine, as each ballclub won one contest at its respective home venue.
The Bruins have earned their 17th NCAA Tournament berth, and fifth in the last six seasons. UCLA won the 2011 Pac-10 Championship to earn an automatic bid to this season's NCAA Tournament.
The Pac-10 Conference will send six teams to this year's NCAA Tournament - UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona State, Arizona, Stanford and California. Monday morning's tournament bracket was revealed on ESPN during a 30-minute "Selection Show" beginning at 9:30 a.m.
UCLA has posted a 33-22 record, winning the Pac-10 title with an 18-9 conference mark, one game ahead of Oregon State and Arizona State. The Bruins went 9-4-1 on weekend series, including a 7-2 mark in Pac-10 weekend series.
Tickets for NCAA Regional games at Jackie Robinson Stadium will go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. Fans will only be able to purchase tickets through UCLA's Central Ticket Office (310-825-2101). Tickets are available online via tickets.ucla.edu (or by clicking here).
Fans may only purchase All-Session Reserved ($80 adult, $65 student) or All-Session General Admission packages ($55 adult, $50 student). The student prices apply to all grade school, high school and college students.
If any all-session tickets remain on Friday morning, they will be sold as individual game tickets. The 2 p.m. game would be on sale at the stadium and all others would be available online via tickets.ucla.edu (or by clicking here).
