June 1, 2011

Junior pitcher Trevor Bauer (Valenica, CA/Hart HS) of the UCLA baseball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 23-30.

Bauer pitched his eighth consecutive complete game, his ninth of the season and 14th of his career, to lead UCLA past Arizona State, 7-0, on Saturday. The Bruins clinched at least a share of the Pac-10 title on Saturday and won it outright on Sunday. The Valencia, Calif., native recorded 14 strikeouts and one walk, scattering five hits in his third complete game shutout of the season. He improved to 12-2 on the season with a 1.27 ERA. Bauer, who was also named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday, leads the nation with 189 strikeouts, the second-highest single-season total in Pac-10 history.

This is Bauer's third UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and sixth of his career, tied with Darren Collison for the most ever by a UCLA male student-athlete.
