Two Bruins Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships

Alaizah Koorji (women's rowing) and Andrea Remynse (women's tennis) have each earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships, as announced by the NCAA on Monday. Koorji and Remynse are two of 58 NCAA student-athletes (29 men and 29 women) representing spring sports participants who will receive the one-time grant of $7,500.
Koorji, a four-year varsity eight coxswain for the Bruins majoring in English, captured CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors for the third consecutive season in 2011. She also collected first-team All-Academic honors from the Pacific-10 Conference for the third straight year.
Remynse, an All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection in 2011, was named a first-team Pac-10 All-Academic selection for the second year in a row. She carries a 3.60 cumulative grade point average as a political science major and will be attending Michigan State Law School in the fall.
The pair of NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships are the 66th and 67th in UCLA history. It is the first for UCLA women's rowing and the second for UCLA women's tennis (Karen Dewis, 1983-84).
