UCLA's Trevor Bauer Earns First-Team ABCA All-America Honors

LOS ANGELES - UCLA junior right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer has captured first-team American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America accolades, as announced on Thursday. Bauer went 13-2 with a nation-leading 203 strikeouts for UCLA in 2011.

Bauer has already been named National Player of the Year by Baseball America and Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball, National Pitcher of the Year by Perfect Game USA and the Pac-10 Conference's Pitcher of the Year. In addition, the native of Valencia, Calif., has secured first-team All-America accolades from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, the NCBWA and Perfect Game USA.

As a junior in 2011, Bauer posted a league-leading 1.25 ERA in 16 starts, hurling a nation-best 10 complete games. Bauer finished the season having pitched nine consecutive complete games as the Bruins captured their first outright Pac-10 Conference title since 1986.

Bauer established himself as UCLA's all-time record holder in career strikeouts (460), wins (34) and innings pitched (373.1). He also owns the top two marks on UCLA's single-season records list, having logged 203 strikeouts in 2011 and 165 in 2010.
