Adam Plutko Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

June 18, 2012

Sophomore pitcher Adam Plutko (Glendora, Calif./Glendora HS) of the UCLA baseball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for June 11-17.

Plutko led UCLA to a 9-1 victory over Stony Brook in the opening game of the College World Series. Plutko limited Stony Brook to just five hits over seven innings, striking out seven and issuing two walks, as the Bruins secured their 20th win in their last 22 ballgames. With the win, he joined Trevor Bauer as the only pitchers in program history to have earned at least four career postseason victories. Plutko has gone 4-0 with a 0.88 ERA in four postseason starts (30.2 innings).

This is Plutko's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
