UCLA's White Makes New Zealand Olympic Soccer Team

LOS ANGELES - UCLA women's soccer player Rosie White will join teammate Chelsea Stewart in London this summer, as White was named to New Zealand's 18-player Olympic roster on Friday. Her selection brings the number of current and former Bruins competing in women's soccer at the Olympics to four, as White and Stewart (Canada) join U.S. players Sydney Leroux and Lauren Cheney.
White was anything but a lock to make New Zealand's roster, especially since she is recovering from a stress fracture in her foot. She is one of just eight players on the team aged 24 or younger. At 19 years of age, she is the second youngest player on the team next to Rebekah Stott, who is just 11 days younger.
The Olympics will not be White's first major competition for her country, as she was also a member the New Zealand squad that competed at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany.
White appeared in 20 of 21 matches as a freshman for the Bruins in 2011, tallying three points on a goal and an assist.
The Football Ferns are the opening act of the 2012 Olympics, playing hosts Great Britain in Cardiff two days before the opening ceremony
