Randy Taylor begins his seventh year at UCLA working in an administrative capacity. He deals with all facets of the Bruin football program, including the organization of the Bruin recruiting efforts which have culminated with two of the nation’s top classes in 1997 and 1998. The 2001 class was considered by many to be among the top 10 in the nation. In May of 2001, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 1 director of football operations by Tom Lemming of ESPN.com. Once again in 2002, the Bruin recruiting efforts paid off with a group rated among the top five nationally by several publications.
A former All-Big Ten center at Illinois, Taylor returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant offensive line coach for the ’79 college season. He then moved into administration as the Assistant Director of Operations at his alma mater in charge of fund raising, marketing and public relations. In 1980, Taylor went on to become an Assistant to the Athletics Director for Football at Illinois.
Taylor then moved on to UNLV as an Assistant to the Athletics Director for Football from 1985 to 1987. His duties centered on directing the administration of the Las Vegas football program, including media and community relations, fund raising, recruiting, NCAA compliance, athlete advising and camp production. Randy was named Assistant Athletics Director at San Jose State in 1988, where he oversaw the areas of marketing, promotions, media and community relations, corporate sponsorships, advertising, and event and camp production.
Taylor came to UCLA after working as the president of his own company which specialized in various sports-related business ventures.
