Player Bio: Nick Nichols - UCLA Official Athletic Site

Richard "Nick" Nichols is entering his 25th season as UCLA's Head Equipment Manager. Nichols, who has been at UCLA for 40 years and who joined the equipment staff in 1968, supervises three other full-time staff members - Tony Perri, Pete Maglieri and Mike McBride.

The equipment staff is in charge of the cleaning, maintenance and storage of UCLA's football equipment both before and after each practice and game. During the games, they are poised on the sidelines ready to assist players and coaches with any equipment problem.

As head equipment manager, Nichols is in charge of the budget, annually ordering over $750,000 worth of football equipment and dealing with athletic administrators, coaches and student-athletes. He and his assistants also oversee equipment ordering and warehousing for all of UCLA's 21 sports.
