Don Witzel begins his third season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bruins.

Prior to coming to work with the Bruins, he served as the volunteer assistant coach at Stanford for the Cardinal women’s swimming team from 1992-96. Prior to Stanford, he was a coach at Alpine Hills Country Club in Portola Valley, as well as serving as head coach of the Sunnyvale Swim Club from 1990-92.

Witzel is also in his second year as head coach of the age group team, Steven Wise Aquatics.

Witzel, a native of Redwood City, Calif., competed as a professional triathlete for Team Power Bar through 1991. In addition to coaching, Witzel graduated from the London Center for Theatre Study in 1997. During his stay in London, he performed in anumber of plays in the West End, including The Crucible, The Doll’s House and The Matchmaker.
