    • MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

    Senior attacker Matt Armato (Long Beach, CA/Wilson HS) of the men's water polo team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 13-19.

    Armato, an All-American in 1997, was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Southern California Tournament, where the Bruins placed third. Armato scored 10 goals, including one two-pointer, in four games. In the first round of the tournament, Armato scored three goals in each of the Bruins' victories over Pepperdine and Navy. He also scored two goals, including a two-pointer, in the Bruins' semifinal loss to eventual champion Stanford and then scored two more goals in the 12-8 win over UC Irvine in the third-place game.

    Armato, UCLA's team captain, holds a 3.11 GPA in Geography/Urban Planning.
