Senior forward Matt Barnes (Citrus Heights, CA/Del Campo HS) of the UCLA Men's Basketball Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13.

Barnes, the Sports Illustrated and CollegeInsider.com National Player of the Week and the Pac-10 Player of the Week, was honored for his performances against USC and top-ranked Kansas.

His two-game totals on Jan. 10 and 12 vs. USC and Kansas included 61 points, 10 rebounds and four assists while shooting 71% (22-31) from the field, 71.4% (10-14) from three-point range and 70% (7-10) from the free throw line. His two-game total of 61 points is the best by a Bruin in that span since Ed O'Bannon scored 64 vs. California (27) and Duke (37) in 1995.

In 34 minutes vs. No. 1 Kansas, Barnes led the Bruins with 27 points (10-14, 3-4, 4-6) and added five rebounds, two assists and one block.

In 37 minutes at USC, he led the Bruins with a career-high 34 points, making 12 of 17 field goals, seven of 11 three-point attempts and three of four free throws. His seven three-pointers tied the school record held by Reggie Miller in 1987 and Ed O'Bannon in 1995. Barnes also had five rebounds and two assists.

This is Barnes' first UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week honor this season and his second overall.
