Mission Statement

The Office of Academic Excellence (OAE) supports the unique needs of each student-athlete by providing strategic services and programming in the areas of academic support, academic advising, and eligibility monitoring. Our student-centered approach empowers student-athletes to maximize their educational experience as they pursue their academic and personal goals. It is our mission to graduate self-sufficient learners who are able to successfully embark on life after college.

A Collaboration For Growth

Peer Learning Facilitators (PLFs) provide subject area tutoring in a collaborative learning environment in which student-athletes and PLFs work together to maximize content understanding in individual and small group sessions.

Academic Game Plan

Each team is assigned a College Academic Advisor who provides academic advice and direction in program planning, academic difficulty counseling, petitioning degree requirements, and major selection.

Learning Specialists

One-On-One Guidance

Learning Specialists work individually with student-athletes to strengthen study habits, time management, learning strategies, and reading/writing skills, while connecting them to campus resources for a successful transition.

Academic Mentoring
Academic Mentoring

Support for New Bruins

Academic Mentors are an extension of the Learning Specialists and College Academic Advisors, assisting with first-year transition, time management, program planning, goal setting, studying, and exam preparation.
