Nearly 50 elementary and middle school-aged kids from three local children's charities were on hand to help launch the Foundation. Kids from the Young Warriors, Shelter37 and the Special Olympics all got the chance to play on the UCLA practice field. At the conclusion of practice, Bruin players volunteered to stay and run through some drills and take pictures with their special guests.
Saturday's launch precedes the Foundation's major fundraising event, the Jim Mora Celebrity Golf Classic, on May 20 at the Riviera Country Club. The golfing portion of the event is sold out, however there are still opportunities to purchase a table for that evening's dinner, sponsor a hole, or make a donation directly to the Foundation. About the Jim Mora Count On Me Family Foundation
The Foundation, created in 2005, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization which supports children in need, primarily in three target areas: children from low socioeconomic backgrounds, mentally and physically-challenged children, and children at-risk. Through the Foundation, Jim Mora, Football Head Coach at UCLA, and wife, Shannon, support children in need in Georgia, Washington and now California. The Count On Me Family Foundation has granted over a million dollars to over 50 charitable children's organizations since 2005. This year the Count On Me Foundation's well-received Holiday Shop Program will include outreach in children's hospitals in California, Georgia and Washington.
