The no. 4 ranked UCLA Women's Golf Team will begin play at the NCAA East Regional this Thursday, May 9th, at the Auburn University Golf Club. The competition will be the Bruin's 19th consecutive regional event.
The field consists of 23 teams and six individuals. The Bruins, a constant presence in the Top-10 nationally after enduring an injury-plagued fall season, will represent one of the strongest teams in the group. Also headlining are #2 Alabama, #8 Arkansas, #13 Tulane, #17 Virginia, and #19 North Carolina.
Hall of Fame coach Carrie Forsyth will look to a now solidified lineup to continue their recent success. Senior Tiffany Lua, ranked #16 in the country individually, will look to pace the Bruins, along with sophomore Erynne Lee, nationally placed at #6. Senior Lee Lopez, junior Ani Gulugian, and freshman Louise Ridderstrom will represent the remainder of the UCLA contingent. Coach Forsyth has experienced outstanding success in the NCAA Regionals, including 11 straight podium finishes and seven outright victories. The Bruins won their last two regionals in 2011 and 2012, and will be eager to continue that streak on Thursday.
The Auburn University Golf Club plays to a par 72 over 6,259 yards. Tee times are listed here.
