Kyle Anderson Captures Third-Team AP All-America Honors

UCLA sophomore Kyle Anderson has earned third-team Associated Press All-America honors after having averaged 14.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in 2013-14.
Anderson has become UCLA’s first player since 2008 to have earned AP All-America acclaim. Kevin Love secured first-team honors as a freshman in 2007-08 and Darren Collision captured third-team accolades as a junior that season.
Anderson led all Pac-12 players with 6.5 assists per game and finished third in the conference in rebounds per game (8.8) and steals per game (1.8). The 6-foot-9 product from Fairview, N.J., finished second on the team in scoring (14.6 ppg).
Anderson is joined as a third-team AP All-America selection by Cleanthony Early (Wichita State), Julius Randle (Kentucky), C.J. Fair (Syracuse) and Scottie Wilbekin (Florida).
Under Anderson’s leadership, UCLA registered a 28-9 overall record in 2013-14. The Bruins captured their first Pac-12 Tournament title since 2008 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 for the first time since 2008. UCLA’s season ended with a 79-68 loss to No. 1-seed Florida in Memphis on March 27.
As a sophomore in 2013-14, Anderson became the first player in the history of the Pac-12 Conference to have totaled at least 200 rebounds and 200 assists in the same season. He finished his sophomore campaign with 527 points, 315 rebounds and 233 assists. Anderson recorded a 2.12 assist turnover ratio, the fourth-best mark among Pac-12 players.
