UCLA Multis Start Off Busy Week for the Bruins

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA track & field team has a busy week ahead as the team will participate in the Mt. SAC Relays. The heptathlon/decathlon portion will begin on Wednesday, April 15 at Azusa Pacific, while the majority of the Bruins will compete Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18 at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College.
Starting off the competition for UCLA on Wednesday will be All-American Alexis Walker in the California Invitational heptathlon at 8:30 a.m., while All-American Tatum Souza will compete in the Mt. SAC heptathlon, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Competing in the first decathlon of the season for the Bruins will be All-American Marcus Nilsson and a trio of freshmen in Steele Wasik, Scott Snow and Zach Bornstein.
On Thursday evening the Bruins will kick off the track portion of the meet as All-American Kelsey Smith, Bronte Golick, Michael McCabe and Richard Ho will run their first 10,000m race of the season.
UCLA is coming off an impressive dual meet victory over Oklahoma. The men won by the score of 99-46, while the women downed the Sooners, 104-52. After the conclusion of the meet, the Bruins have nine athletes ranked in the top 25 nationally in their respective events and as a team the men rank 21st while the women move to 20th in the country.
UCLA will stay in Southern California next weekend as the Bruins will make the trek to San Diego for the Triton Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 24.
