Harrison Claims Pac-12 Singles Championship

"Today I just focused on the things I could control," said Harrison. "I just focused on staying positive the entire match and not looking at the score and just playing every single point exactly the same. This is awesome. It means even more to be able to keep it in the family after winning it the last two years."
Harrison, who is ranked No. 67 nationally in singles, was the underdog in Sunday's final, as Fabikova checks in at No. 25 in the latest ITA rankings. After a tight first set, Harrison broke Fabikova's serve in the very first game of the second set and cruised from there on out, eventually breaking her two more times before closing out the set at love on her own serve.
Harrison has been on a roll as of late, as her win on Sunday pushes her winning streak to 16. She has not lost a singles match since a dual match against USC on March 4.
In Sundays' Pac-12 Invitational singles final, Bruin freshman Terri Fleming fell to second-seeded Meredith Xepoleas of USC, 6-2, 6-3.
UCLA was also awarded the annual Thacher Cup on Sunday, an award given to the team which had the best results in Ojai throughout all the draws. More information about this year's tournament can be found at www.ojaitourney.org.
