Jordin Canada Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Canada led UCLA (19-18) to its first-ever WNIT Championship last week with a 69-65 win at Michigan in the semifinals and a 62-60 win in the finals over West Virginia in Charleston, W.Va. The 5-foot-6 guard out of Los Angeles (Windward School) was named the WNIT MVP after scoring a season-high 31 points in the title game against the Mountaineers. She also had four steals, two assists and two rebounds and added season-highs in free throws (13-for-15) against WVU. The 31 points were the most by a Bruin on the year and the most by a freshman in the Pac-12 this season. Canada just missed a double-double in the win at Michigan with 14 points and nine assists. She also added a team-high six rebounds and two steals against the Wolverines. For the week, Canada averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 48.4 percent (15-for-31) from the field and 88.2 percent (15-for-17) from the free throw line.
This is Canada’s second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
