UCLA Set to Host Pac-12 Track & Field Championships

LOS ANGELES – UCLA is the host site for the 2015 Pac-12 Track & Field Championships. The meet will begin on Saturday, May 16 and conclude on Sunday, May 17. All events will be held at Drake Stadium. UCLA is hosting the championships for the first time since 2005 and the fourth time since 1981.
Tickets for the Pac-12 Championships are available through the UCLA Central Ticket Office. Orders may be placed HERE or by calling the ticket office at (310) UCLA-WIN or (310) 825-2101. The Central Ticket Office will be open Monday, May 11-Friday, May 15.
Those wishing to purchase tickets beginning on Saturday, May 16 will need to do so at Drake Stadium. The ticket windows at Drake Stadium will open 90 minutes prior to the start of the competition.
A tape-delayed broadcast of the 2015 Pac-12 Men’s & Women’s Track and Field Championships will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks on Sunday, May 24 at 9 a.m. PT. Paul Sunderland, Tom Feuer and Allyson Felix will be calling all the action, with Jill Savage reporting from the track. Check local listings for additional air times.
UCLA enters the meet with 10 points in the women’s competition and seven in the men’s after the multi-event weekend. Senior Tatum Souza was the runner-up in the heptathlon with 5,636 points while senior Alexis Walker scored key points with a seventh place finish on the strength of 5,201 points.
In the men’s competition senior Marcus Nilsson placed third with 7,663 points while freshman Zack Bornstein put together his first collegiate decathlon to score 6,991 points to place eighth overall.
The UCLA men have won a league-best 17 team titles since 1960 and has had an individual champion in each of the last 50 years. The women pace the league with 15 team championships and 127 event titles. Last year in Pullman, Wash., the UCLA women placed sixth while the men finished seventh.
The Bruins return Pac-12 shot put champion Nicholas Scarvelis. He enters the meet with the top mark in the conference. On top of Scarvelis, seniors Zibby Boyer and Ida Storm also hold the top mark in their respective events. UCLA showcases 15 marks in the top five in the conference.
UCLA will dive into NCAA competition beginning on Thursday, May 28 at the NCAA West Regional. The three-day meet will be hosted by the University of Texas in Austin.
