2015 NCAA Final – (7) UCLA vs. (4) Vanderbilt
- UCLA is appearing in its third NCAA Final in the last four years. The Bruins fell to Florida, 4-0 in the title match in 2012 before going on to win the championship last year, defeating North Carolina, 4-3. Both of those finals were in Athens, Ga.
- The UCLA-Vanderbilt series is tied at 2-2. The Bruins won the last meeting between the two schools, notching a 4-1 win at the ITA National Team Indoors in 2013.
- UCLA is aiming to capture the school’s 113th NCAA Championship, the most of any athletic program in the country. Stanford ranks No. 2 in NCAA titles with 106.
- The women’s tennis team is seeking its fourth national championship and third NCAA title. The Bruins have also won titles in 1981 (AIAW), 2008 and 2014.
- Senior Robin Anderson, the nation’s top-ranked singles player, takes an eight-match winning streak (the longest on the team) into Tuesday’s final. She has not lost since a dual match at ASU on April 3.
- Head coach Stella Sampras Webster, who is in her 19th season as head coach at her alma mater, takes a career record of 368-135 (.732) into Tuesday’s title match. She is the only women’s tennis coach in school history to win two NCAA titles (2008 and 2014).
- With every win, senior Robin Anderson continues to add to her school record for victories at the No. 1 singles spot. Anderson currently has 72 wins at court No. 1, 21 more than Keri Phebus, who posted 51 wins from 1993-96.
- This year’s senior class is the most successful in school history. Robin Anderson, Chanelle Van Nguyen and Kaitlin Ray have helped UCLA register a remarkable 96-15 overall record during their time in Westwood. They have reached the Final Four every season and Tuesday marks their third NCAA Final in four years.
- This year marks the sixth-straight season that UCLA has reached the 20-win mark, as the Bruins are currently at 23-4 overall.
- UCLA’s No. 4 singles player, Catherine Harrison, had her 19-match winning streak snapped in UCLA’s 4-1 win over No. 2 North Carolina on Sunday. Harrison was a straight-set winner against Georgia on Monday and has now won 20 of her last 21. She is the reigning Pac-12 singles champion.
- After not losing the doubles point in any match in all of 2014, UCLA has lost the doubles point six times this year. The Bruins have gone on to win the match in four of those contests, including twice in Waco (vs. Texas A&M and Georgia). The Bruins are 19-2 this year when winning the doubles point.
