UCLA Clinches SoCal BMW Crosstown Cup Competition
The score currently stands at 95-85, UCLA, with a potential NCAA Tournament matchup in baseball looming and a five-point swing possible (series is currently split 2-2). Should the two schools tie at 90-90, the Bruins own the tiebreaker of head-to-head regular season games/matches, having gone 16-12 against the Trojans in the regular season this year. UCLA won the majority of its points in the fall and winter seasons, leading by as many as 60 points (80-20), before USC gained ground during the spring.

Representatives from the Southern California BMW Centers will present the Crosstown Cup to UCLA at an upcoming event on campus.

While the rivalry dates back to the 1920s, the official head-to-head battle to determine an annual all-sports champion started in the 2001-02 season. With the conclusion of this year’s competition, the Bruins, who lead the nation with a record 112 NCAA Team Championships, have now taken two of the last three showdowns with the Trojans.
Thanks to a title sponsorship deal brokered by IMG College and USC Sports Properties, this is the first year under presenting sponsor SoCal BMW. Moreover, it is also the competition’s first year under a new scoring system where 10 points are available for each of the men’s and women’s sports (Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, & Olympic Sports) in which the schools compete. All 10 points for a single sport are awarded to the winner of the most head-to-head contests in that sport – the 10 points are split if both schools win an equal amount of matchups in a sport. The highest finisher in Pac-12 Championship play will determine who gets the 10 points in sports that do not feature a head-to-head competition between the schools.
