– With his 41st start for the Bruin, Dorian Thompson-Robinson surpasses Brett Hundley (2011-14, 40 starts) for sole possession of the second-most starts by a quarterback in UCLA history.
– Thompson-Robinson threw his 76th career touchdown pass to Logan Loya in the fourth quarter to move past Brett Hundley (2011-14) as the all-time UCLA leader. It marked the fourth career game in which Thompson-Robinson has thrown at least four TD passes (five at Washington State in 2019; also four vs. USC 2021, at Colorado in 2020). It is the third time this season that Thompson-Robinson has thrown for at least three TDs in a game (also S. Alabama-3 and Washington-3).
– Loya’s 70-yard touchdown marks UCLA’s fourth scoring play of 50+ yards this season.
– Thompson-Robinson completed 18 passes in the game (716 career completions), surpassing Josh Rosen (2015-17, 712 career completions) for second place in UCLA’s all-time list.
– Thompson-Robinson punched in a rushing touchdown for his second-consecutive week, bringing his season total to four.
– Thompson-Robinson’s second-quarter touchdown pass to Jake Bobo gave him a scoring pass in his eighth straight game. He has at least one scoring pass in 15 of the last 16 contests.
– Senior Zach Charbonnet surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in the first half, amassing 125 yards on 10 carries. Charbonnet had a 49-yard run in the game, his longest with the Bruins, and a single-game career high of 198 rushing yards. He had a 70-yard run against Minnesota while at Michigan in 2020.
– Charbonnet has four games with 100 yards or more on the season. The running back has 13 career games with 100+ rushing yards.
– Charbonnet has rushed for 100+ yards in three-consecutive games. The running back was the last Bruin to accomplish this feat (at USC, 2021 - 167, vs. California, 2021 - 106, vs. Bowling Green, 2022 - 111).
– Redshirt senior Jake Bobo caught a touchdown on UCLA’s opening drive of the second quarter, his fourth of the season. Bobo has caught at least one touchdown in three of UCLA’s last four games.
– Bobo found the endzone a second time in the third quarter, marking his second-consecutive game with two touchdown receptions.
– Senior Darius Muasau recorded his first interception as a Bruin after picking off Cameron Rising late in the first quarter.
– Muasau forced a fumble – his first for UCLA – in the fourth quarter. Redshirt freshman Jaylin Davies picked up the pigskin for his first-career fumble recovery on the play.
– Redshirt junior Kam Brown reeled in a touchdown pass for the second-consecutive game, his third score of the season.
– Kicker Nicholas Barr-Mira scored six extra points on the day, bringing his career scoring total to 195. Barr-Mira moves up to No. 16 on UCLA’s all-time scoring list with Saturday’s performance.
Team Notes
– After defeating Utah this afternoon, UCLA leads the series against the Utes, 12-8. The Bruins had lost the previous five meetings in the series with Utah and the last three contests played in Pasadena. UCLA’s most recent win in the series came in Salt Lake City in 2017 by a 17-9 score. The last UCLA home win over Utah came in the 2012 season.
– UCLA has now won nine straight games over the past two seasons. The Bruins last earned as many as nine consecutive wins over the 1997 and 1998 seasons when it established a school record with 20 consecutive wins.
– UCLA has now won its last seven homes games (2021 - Colorado and California, 2022 - Bowling Green, Alabama State, South Alabama, Washington, Utah). The last time it won more than seven straight home contests was over the 2005-06 seasons when it secured wins in 10 straight home games.
– The last time UCLA started a conference schedule with a 3-0 record in league games was in 2007 when it opened with wins in its first four conference games.
– UCLA has had 10 previous starts to a season of 6-0 or better -- 2005 (8-0); 2001 (6-0); 1998 (10-0); 1988 (7-0); 1980 (6-0); 1967 (6-0); 1966 (7-0); 1954 (9-0); 1952 (8-0); 1946 (10-0).
– UCLA has defeated No. 15 Washington and No. 11 Utah the last two weeks. The last time UCLA won back-to-back contests against ranked opponents came in 2015 -- wins over No. 19 BYU and No. 16 Arizona.
– UCLA has scored at least 40 points in five of its six games this season (40-Washington, 45 vs. Bowling Green, Alabama State, Colorado).
– UCLA entered the game against Utah tied for the second-longest win streak in the nation with eight – a streak that tied Coastal Carolina, which plays UL Monroe later today. UCLA is now on a nine-game winning streak and trail only Clemson, who plays Boston College later today. Clemson owns an 11-game streak entering today’s games.
