Kelly Inouye-Perez, The Shelly Carlin UCLA Head Softball Coach
opening statement
โFirst Iโd just like to credit Liberty and Dot (Richardson). They played tough, and they straight up got it done in big moments. For us, I am simply just going to say I donโt have words. Iโm very sad for our seniors who have had an amazing career. We did some things well tonight; we hit the ball hard tonight. We had no brakes. And thatโs the game. But itโs going to take a little bit to stop and really process exactly just what happened. This is new, and I donโt really have a lot of words, except for my seniors. Iโm grateful of how they represented our program. Iโm grateful of the season theyโve had. They left their mark, they left the program in a better place, and thatโs something that will be remembered. Theyโve definitely impacted this program, these Bruins, the younger ones, and all I can say is thank you to our seniors for what theyโve done to represent UCLA Softball.โ
UCLA pitcher Brooke Yanez
on being part of the pitching staff in her first year at UCLAย
โI think it's just the support that weโve all had throughout this whole season knowing we have to get it done for each other and with each other.ย We canโt count anyone out. Weโre all going to have each otherโs backs -- especially Megan (Faraimo), who said, โItโs going to be me and you all season long,โ and we were locked in coming postseason and whatnot. I think itโs just the support weโve all had. We always come in after every inning to talk about what we see, what we could do next, what we could do better. So I think that was the biggest difference maker in the season, just being locked in for one another whether we were in the game or not.ย

UCLA utilityย Megan Grant
on what her message is for the seniors
โLike coach has said, itโs all for them. Iโm always going to look back and think I couldโve done moreโฆfor all of them. Itโs not how we wanted to go out. They just impacted me in so many ways, so I wish I could have done more for them.โ
