• The Bruins have now won their past nine September games played dating back to a Sept. 25, 2021 win over Stanford.
• Under head coach Chip Kelly, UCLA is 23-6 when it rushes for at least 200 yards in a game.
•The Bruins registered six rushing TDs against North Carolina Central. The last time UCLA rushed for six touchdowns was at Arizona in 2015.
• UCLA has opened the 2023 season by holding all three opponents under 20 points (North Carolina Central 7, San Diego State 10, Coastal Carolina 13). The last time UCLA held three straight opponents in a season to 20 points or less was in 2009 when it defeated San Diego State 33-14, Tennessee 19-14, and Kansas State 23-9.
• Dante Moore connected with Kam Brown on a 67-yard scoring pass on the first play from scrimmage in the game. It marked the third straight game in which Moore has thrown for at least one 60-yard touchdown pass – 81-yard pass to Josiah Norwood at San Diego State; 62-yard pass to J.Michael Sturdivant against Coastal Carolina.
• With Laiatu Latu’s first quarter interception, UCLA has now forced at least one turnover in 17 of its past 19 games and its each of its past six straight contests.
• Laiatu Latu made his first career interception to set up a first quarter scoring run by Carson Steele.
•UCLA’s touchdown at 14:42 of the first quarter was the fastest it has scored a touchdown to start a game since Sept. 15, 2012 when Eric Kendricks returned a fumble for a score at the 14:44 mark of the first quarter against Houston.
• UCLA’s 45 first half points are the most it has scored in the opening half since it totaled 42 in a 2015 game against Arizona.
• UCLA’s 35 points in the first quarter are the most it has ever scored in a quarter. The previous high was 30 points scored in the second quarter of a game at Washington State in 2012. (records date back to 1958).
• Longest starting streaks on offense: C Duke Clemens has started the past 24 games; OT Garrett DiGiorgio is next at 16.
• Longest starting streaks on defense: LB Darius Muasau and DL Gabriel Murphy have each started the past 16 straight games. DL Jay Toia is next with 11 consecutive starts.
Next Week: The Bruins will open the Pac-12 schedule on the road at Utah at 12:30 PT / 1:30 MT on FOX. It marks the seventh straight season in which the Bruins have opened conference play on the road --- won at Colorado in 2022; won at Stanford in 2021; lost at Colorado in 2020; won at Washington State in 2019; lost at Colorado at 2018; lost at Stanford in 2017. The Bruins lead the series with Utah 12-8 overall and won last season’s matchup in the Rose Bowl. UCLA has not defeated the Utes in Salt Lake City since 2015.
