Attended Oakcrest School in Vienna, Va. … Competed in XC during the 2016 season, where she finished 10th at the PVAC Championships with a 5K time of 23:51.3 … In track & field, was the 800m champion (2:15.74) at the VISAA State Championships … Named First Team All-Conference … Ran on Oakcrest's 4x800m relay (9:53.38) and 4x400m relay (4:14.99) teams, both of which won first place at the state meet … Ran the fastest girls 800m time (2:15.33) in the state of Virginia … Set new school records in the 400m (58.86), 800m (2:15.33), 1600m (5:36.0h), and the 4x800m relay (9:53.38).

Born in Lake Forest, Ill., to Annie and Bill James … One of eight children … Has seven brothers (Thomas, Liam, Joseph, Owen, Brendan, Gabriel, Raphael) … Lists Louis Zamperini, Allison Felix and Natasha Hastings as famous athletes she admires … Hobbies and interests include hiking, playing the piano, history, art and literature … Her father played football for Navy, while her grandfather ran cross country and competed in track & field at North Carolina … Lists her greatest athletic thrill to date as winning the 800m at the Draper Invitational her senior year … Chose UCLA for its outstanding academics and “stellar” track program … Said she could “pursue her academic goals while continuing to challenge myself in the sport that I love” … Wants to work in government/politics … Plans to major in political science.
