ย
Boyer most recently served as the quarterbacks coach at Michigan State in 2025. The Spartansโ QB room saw Aidan Chiles and Alessio Milivojevic split reps due to injuries sustained by Chiles throughout the season. Chiles, who started nine of 12 games, completed 63 percent of his passes (128-of-203) for 1,392 yards and 10 touchdowns in addition to leading Michigan State with six rushing touchdowns. Milivojevic was equally effective, adding 1,267 air yards and 10 passing touchdowns of his own.
ย
Prior to Michigan State, Boyer spent six seasons at Oregon State from 2019-24. He served as a quality control coach and senior offensive advisor for his first five years before coaching the tight ends in 2024. In that role, he mentored Jermaine Terry II, who finished second on the team with 375 receiving yards and tied for fourth with 23 receptions, both career highs.
ย
Oregon State enjoyed sustained offensive success during Boyerโs tenure in Corvallis. The Beavers averaged 31.8 points and 409.2 yards per game in 2023, earning a third consecutive bowl appearance (Sun Bowl vs. Notre Dame). In 2022, Oregon State averaged 32.2 points and 396.0 yards per game en route to a 10-3 record, a Las Vegas Bowl victory over Florida and a No. 17 final national ranking. The 2021 team set a program record with 6.4 yards per play and totaled 5,581 yards of offense in a 13-game season. Boyer also worked with several future NFL players, including quarterback Jake Luton and running back Jermar Jefferson.
ย
Before Oregon State, Boyer spent eight seasons at Northern Colorado from 2011-18, including the last seven as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2018. During his tenure, he mentored Seth Lobato, who set school records in touchdown passes (53), passing yards (8,090) and completions (637). Boyerโs offenses in 2016 and 2017 ranked among the FCS leaders, including passing (13th in 2017 with 280.9 yards per game; 24th in 2016 with 260.6 yards per game), scoring (15th in 2017 with 34.3 points per game) and total offense (25th in 2017 with 417.8 yards per game).
ย
Boyer began his coaching career at Northern Colorado, first serving on the strength and conditioning staff before coaching quarterbacks from 2004-05. He later spent four seasons as offensive coordinator at Colorado Mesa from 2007-10 before returning to Northern Colorado.
ย
A two-year letterwinner at quarterback for Northern Colorado from 2000-01, Boyer played in 22 games and threw for 4,529 yards and 32 touchdowns, totals that still rank among the best in program history.
ย
Boyer earned his bachelorโs degree in sport and exercise science from Northern Colorado in 2002.
