Keith Belton joined the UCLA football staff in March of 2021 as the Director of Football Performance. He comes to Westwood after working in both collegiate and private sports performance training environments.

Belton most recently was the Director of Sports Performance for OLLIN Athletics Sports Medicine in Texas where he designed and implemented scientifically sound training programs for a myriad of professional athletes. The goal of the OLLIN program was to improve the athlete’s movement efficiency, work capacity, power output, speed, change of direction, and strength with special attention to each individual’s sport, position and specific needs.

In 2019, Belton was the Senior Associate Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the football team at the University of Kansas. Prior to that, he worked as Associate Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Southern California for football from 2017-19 and as the Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Nevada Las Vegas from 2015-17. At UNLV, he oversaw the entire Athletic Performance unit for all 17 sports. In all three assignments, he designed and implemented science-based training programs and supervised a staff of student interns and graduate assistants. Belton also aided in the rehabilitative efforts and helped develop Nutrition programs for all student-athletes.

From 2012-13, he served as an assistant coach for strength and conditioning at the University of Washington where he worked with the football and softball teams. In 2010-12, Belton was the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at Baylor University working in the areas of nutrition, strength training, speed and conditioning for the football, softball, track and field, and men’s tennis teams. He helped design training programs for BU’s quarterback Robert Griffin III who won the 2011 Heisman Trophy and was named 2011 Associate Press College Football Player of the Year. 

In 2009-10, Belton was the running backs coach at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. He assisted the offensive coaching staff with the skill positions and coordinated all scouting efforts and scout team preparation. In 2010, he also worked for RHA Health Services in Charlotte, N.C. where he assisted consumers in developing critical daily living and coping skills. In 2009, he served as a strength and conditioning intern at Wake Forest University for all varsity teams. 

From 2004-2007, Belton played professional football in the National Football League. He was a member of the Detroit Lions practice squad in 2004. In 2005, he was with the Chicago Bears. He returned to the Lions in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Belton also had a stint with the Denver Broncos during the 2007 campaign.

Belton was a two-year starter on the football team at Syracuse University from 2002-2003. In 2003, he played in all 12 games and started eight games at fullback. He played in all 12 games in 2002, averaging 4.9 yards per carry from his fullback position.

Belton holds certifications from The Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and was a winner of the prestigious Stuck Award given to individuals who excelled during the practical section of the exam.

Belton and his wife, Shantre, have three children --- Peyton, Aubrey and Storm.
