UCLA Head Coach Adam Wright completed both of his coaching staffs with one hire, Sarah Lizotte, to the post of assistant coach for both the men's and women's water polo teams. She will be in her first season with both programs in 2023-24.

Lizotte was a four-time First-Team All-America NCAA Division II selection at utility for the UC San Diego Tritons (2011-14) and was a two-time ACWPC Division II National Player of the Year (2013-14). Also a three-time First-Team All-WWPA pick, Lizotte is still the Tritons' record holder in scoring with 321 goals and 497 total points, which includes a UCSD career record of 176 assists.

She was also twice named the WWPA Player of the Year (2013-14) and was a three-time UCSD Athlete of the Year (2012-14). She was the only player in UCSD program history to score 90-plus goals in a single season, and she did it three times (2012-14). She also scored a total of 26 goals in three appearances at the NCAA Championship.

"We are excited to have Sarah Lizotte complete our coaching staff and I'm looking forward to working with her as she assists both our men's and women's water polo teams," Wright said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge to our programs and she has played at the highest levels both at the collegiate and professional levels. Having spent the last eight years in Barcelona, Spain, playing professionally with a top club team as well as working and coaching, she will be a great resource to both of our teams in international recruiting as well as in the development of our student-athletes."

Upon graduation in 2014, she joined Club Esportiu Mediterrani in Barcelona, Spain, where she played professionally for nine years (2015-23). She was a team captain for five of those seasons, helping the program classify and compete at the European Champions League.

She then decided to venture out on her own and became the CEO and founder of Lizotte International Sports Agency, a multi-service international sports agency, in January of 2020, located in Barcelona.

While she was a student-athlete at UCSD, Lizotte caught the coaching bug and served as the head coach and the director of the youth program at Del Mar Water Polo Club in San Diego, Calif., from Sept. 2012 through Mar. 2015. She would later serve as the assistant boys varsity water polo coach at Cathedral Catholic High School (Sept. 2012-Aug. 2014) and the girls varsity water polo head coach at Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego, Calif. (Sept. 2012-Mar. 2015).
