Devon Newberry ended the season with an overall record of 13-0 (71-20 career) โฆ partnered with Jaden Whitmarsh for the majority of the season, going 11-0 on court fiveย โฆ also went 2-0 with Maggie Boyd on court twoย โฆ had surgery in the offseason causing her to miss the beginning of the year, then in her second match back at USC (Mar. 5) she suffered another setback with an undisclosed injury and didn't return to the Bruins' lineup until Apr. 14 in a win over No. 19 Pepperdineย โฆ the Bruins faced 32 ranked opponents in the 44 duals on the yearย with Newberry going 11-0 against ranked teams (one match was truncated at the Pac-12 Championship and two more at the NCAA Championship) โฆ recorded a season-best winning streak of 13 consecutive dualsย which began withย a win over Arizona State (Mar. 4) and is still active โฆ Newberry also clinched six victories in dual matches on the year (all with Whitmarsh) for the Bruins with the biggest coming on Championship Friday when she and Whitmarsh clinched all three victories against No. 3 USC, No. 8 Stanford, and No. 9 California, 3-0, to help the Bruins win the 2023 Pac-12 Championship โฆ the tandem also went 7-0 in postseason play (2-0ย at NCAAs, 5-0 at Pac-12s)ย โฆ Newberry wasย 10-0 in two-set matches and 3-0 in three-set matches on the year.
