AVP: partnered with former UCLA standout Lauren Fendrick and placed 2nd at the Austin Open (May 17-20)ย falling to Alix Klineman and April Ross (22-24, 23-25) in the championship ... lost in the second round of the San Francisco Open (July 5-8) to Kelley Larsen and Emily Stockman (19-21, 15-21) ... lost in the second round of the AVP Gold Series Manhattan Beach Open (Aug. 16-19) to Janelle Allen and Kerri Schuh (19-21, 21-16, 13-15) ... then partnered with USC's Terese Cannon at the AVP Gold Series Championships in Chicago, Ill., (Aug. 30-Sept. 2) and lost in the semifinals to Sara Hughes and Summer Ross (14-21, 16-21) ... lost in the first round of the AVP Hawaii Invitational (Sept. 15-16) toย Ágatha Bednarczukย andย Eduarda "Duda" Santos Lisboaย (20-22, 21-23).ย FIVB: partnered with three different players during the offseason and had success with all three players on the FIVB World Tour ... began with former Long Beach State 49er Caitlin Ledoux, placing 3rd at a 3-Star on July 22 in Haiyang, China ... then placed 5th with Fendrickย at a 3-Star on July 29 in Tokyo, Japan ... also placed 9th with Fendrick at a 5-Star on Aug. 5 in Vienna, Austria ... then began partnering with former USC player Kelly Claes, placing 3rd at a 3-Star on Oct. 4 in Quinzhou, China ... also placed 9th at a 4-Star on Oct. 21 in Las Vegas, Nev. ... had her best showing with Claes by winning silver at The Delaย Beach Open (4-Star) in The Hague, Netherlands, falling to Ana Patriciaย Silva Ramos and Rebecca Cavalcanti Barbosa Silva in the gold medal game (10-21, 18-21).
2018
Sponcilย partnered with sophomoreย Lily Justineย the entire season and the duo wasย named First Team All-Americaย and the court two Pair of the Year by VolleyMob ... the pair was also named Honorable Mention All-Americaย by the AVCAย ... enters her senior season with a career record of 79-26 (includes years at LMU)ย ... the duo went 33-8 on the year, all on court two ... also had a stellar postseason record of 6-1, going 3-0 in the Pac-12 Championship and 3-1 in the NCAA Championship ... posted both of the dual clinching wins on NCAA Championship Sunday, May 6, picking up victories over No. 3 Hawai'i and No. 4 Florida State ... the Bruins faced 39 ranked opponents in the 44 duals with Sponcilย going 28-8 against ranked teams, including going 16-1 against ranked squads to end the year ... named to the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team and also recorded a personal-best winning streak of 15 consecutive duals during the season ... named First Team All-Pac-12 ... the pair also clinched 12 victories in dual matches on the year for the Bruins to lead the team in that category.
2017ย (LMU)
Sponcilย was named WCC Player of the Year and first team All-WCC... posted a 20-11 overall record, including a 20-9 mark with partner Savannah Slattery while playing on court one ... duo went 19-8 in duals andย 1-1 in tournament play ... Slattery/Sponcil reached the quarterfinals of the USA Volleyball Collegiate Championships ... finished the year 9-1 over the last 10 team duals, including topping the top pair from #3 Pepperdine twice.
2016 (LMU)
Sponcilย did not compete for LMU, utilizing a redshirt season... represented Team USA at Manly Beach, Sydney, Australia in the Four Nations U21 Tournament... partnered with Torrey Van Winden... pair went 4-0 at the tournament to capture a gold medal, using a three-set, 21-23, 21-19, 15-13 victory against Brazil's Victoria Tosta/Ana Ramos to claim the title... duo then finished fourth at 2016 FIVB Under 21 World Championships - the highest finishers from the US...
2015 (LMU)
Sponcilย posted a 26-7 overall record, including going 12-3 at the #1 spot... As a freshman earned AVCA All-American honors... played for the National Championship alongside partner Betsi Metter... eight of her victories were against the top opponents of ranked teams.
Sponcil was a four-year letterwinner at Veritas Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Ariz. ... earned All-American accolades in each of her final three seasons ... guided her team to the state championship in 2010, โ11 and โ12, and a runner-up finish in 2013 ... selected as the Small School Player of the Year as a sophomore, junior and senior, and Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013 ... coached by Wes Goodwin.
