UCLA head coach Michael Sealy announced the hiring of Brad Keller to the post of associate head coach for the Bruin women’s volleyball program on Dec. 21, 2018.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to announce Brad as the new associate head coach of the UCLA women’s volleyball team,” Sealy said. “Brad has had a big impact with the men’s team at UCLA, in addition to the work he has done with the USA Junior and Youth National Teams. He has a proven eye for talent, has built solid relationships nationwide and works diligently to better each program he has been involved with.”
“I’d like to thank (UCLA men’s head volleyball coach) John Speraw, (Associate Athletic Director) Ashley Armstrong, the UCLA athletic department and the UCLA men’s volleyball family for an incredible six-year journey,” Keller said. “I am eternally grateful for the opportunity, the mentoring and most importantly the friendship that John has provided. I am proud of what we have built. The future is bright for the men’s volleyball team and I will miss everyone involved.”
“With that being said, I am excited to join Mike Sealy and the UCLA women’s volleyball family,” Keller added. “I want to personally thank Mike for entrusting me to help with this next chapter of UCLA women’s volleyball and allowing me to continue representing this outstanding institution.”
Keller joins the women’s team after spending the past six seasons on the men’s side at UCLA. He coached 10 All-Americans during his half a dozen years in Westwood, helping the Bruins reach the National Semifinals in 2016 and the National Championship match in 2018. Keller has been a part of four top-ranked recruiting classes, according to VolleyballMag.com, in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018.
Keller has served as a coach with the U.S. Youth National Team, serving as the head coach for the silver-medal winning U.S. Boys’ Youth A1 Team at the 2018 NORCECA U19 Continental Championships. He has also served as the YNT associate head coach in 2016 and 2017 and the first assistant in 2014 and 2015.
Keller’s collegiate coaching career began with the USC men’s team (2007-2010) and continued with the UC Irvine men in spring 2011 and the UConn women’s squad in fall 2011 before coming to UCLA. Keller founded the Bay to Bay Volleyball Club in San Jose, serving as the chief director from 2001-2006.
Keller graduated from Loyola Marymount in 2002.
