Dameon Engblom

Dameon Engblom joined the UCLA Women's Rowing coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 school year, the program announced September 19, 2025.
"I'm beyond excited to officially welcome Dameon to the UCLA Women's Rowing program," said head coach Vanessa Tavalero. "Dameon's incredible coaching talent, deep rowing experience, discipline, and heart are exactly what this program needs to push the team in the right direction and accomplish our team's lofty goals. I welcome Dameon and his lovely wife Monica to Westwood!"
Most recently, Engblom served as the Assistant Operations Director and Men's Youth Head Rowing Coach at the Pacific Rowing Club in San Francisco from 2023 to 2025. He was responsible for a men's program involving 40+ athletes, supervised two assistant coaches, direct instruction and supervision of athletes
Engblom was named an assistant coach with the UC San Diego men's rowing program in October of 2019, returning to where he began his collegiate coaching career. He remained an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator through 2021.
Engblom also worked with Triton head coach Geoff Bond at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant coach.
Prior to Engblom's time in Pennsylvania, he spent four years with Oregon State University. In his first year with the Beavers, they recorded a third-place team finish at the Pac-12 Championships. In 2016, three Beaver crews competed at the IRA National Championships. The following year, the Beavers earned a third-place team finish at Pac-12 Championships and the Varsity 8 concluded the season at the IRA Championships.
In Engblom's final year with the Beavers, he took on the role of associate head coach/recruiting coordinator.
Before coaching at Oregon State, Engblom started his collegiate coaching career at UC San Diego. While at UC San Diego the first time, he coached the freshmen rowers and also was the Tritons' recruiting coordinator from 2012-13.
Born and raised in Oregon, Engblom is a 2006 graduate of Sacramento State, earning a bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a minor in Spanish. He graduated from Del Campo High School in 1996.
